Rise of the Handmade is a limited print publication about the growing popularity of hand crafted design in Australia in opposition to capitalism and consumerism.

 

The design of the publication utilises bright colours and a playful illustrative style to evoke the sense of craft and play. While the illustrations convey the narrative of protest against the current trends in favour of something more personalised.

The challenge with this design was communicating the sense of community in the hand crafted community while also  conveying the feeling of hand crafted and play in a publication format.
